Andrew J. Whelchel III has been
president of National Writers Literary Agency (founded 1981) since 1997. The
agency has become a part of Whelchel’s larger Global Talent Representatives,
Inc., a talent agency with an eye for management detail for all types of talent.
The agency has placed their clients with publishers such as Dell, Career Press,
Random House, Waterbrook Press, McGraw-Hill, Black Heron Press, Putnam, Amadeus
Press, Kensington, and a host of other publishers. These are in addition to film deals
with Warner Brothers, Cheyenne Entertainment (a Bruce Willis company), Michael
Taylor (producer of Phenomenon), HBO, and others. Clients have included
Emmy winner Josh Kotzen from ABC Television, best-selling author C.J. Box (Open
Season, Savage Run, Winterkill), Miller Racing Groups Dr. Pepper NASCARâ
team, and work with legendary Warren Miller Films.
With a background in film and book
distribution, magazine publishing, and writers’ organizations, Andrew speaks
regularly at conferences including: The Writers Foundation in Denver,
the Kent State Summer Writing Program, Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers, the
Southwest Writers Conference, the Willamette Writers Conference, and others.
Andrew Whelchel is an active
member of several film and book organizations including The National Academy of
Television Arts and Sciences (Emmy Awards). He is also a private pilot, avid
fisherman, and collector of autographed first edition books.
